Virginia Sex Offender Registration Requirements

Virginia's sex offender registration law is in Virginia Code Title 9.1, Chapter 9. Three tiers apply based on the offense. Tier I offenders register annually for 15 years. Note: Tier classification is fixed at sentencing and does not change based on where the offender lives, moves, or works. Moving to King George County from another Virginia county does not reset the registration clock.
